Dear Students, We've received a proposition from Kaplan Medical to organize Step 1 Preparation Course in Poland this summer. The course would be delivered at Gdansk Medical University and at Poznan University of medical Sciences in July and August. To decide whether or not we should go ahead with the course, we need to estimate the potential number of students interested in taking it. Sincerely, DEAN'S OFFICE USMLE Step 1 Preparation Proposal Poznan University of Medical Science – Poland Kaplan Medical would like to work with the Poznan University of Medical Science and Gdansk Medical University to provide students with a USMLE review Step 1 preparation course for those interested in United States medical licensure and post-graduate training. This program is primarily directed toward North American students at the Poznan University of Medical Science and Gdansk Medical University, but would be open for student enrollments from other schools within Poland. The program objective is to provide the necessary tools for successfully passing the USMLE Step 1 with high scores so that participants in the program may obtain a medical residency or fellowship training position in the United States. Program materials are outlined below and course prices include all study materials. USMLE Step 1 Core Course Provisions Each student will receive the following for their USMLE Step 1 preparation course: - Individual study kit for Step 1 with 7 volumes of lecture notes and Qbook - 9-months of access to Step 1 WebPrep (100-hours of online basic science lectures) - 9-months of access to Step 1 QBank Plus (online question banks) that provide 3,000+ Step 1 practice questions, full explanations and performance summary o Step 1 Qbank o Integrated Vignette Qbank o Simulated Exams - 100-hours of live lectures with Kaplan Medical US faculty held onsite at the Gdansk Medical University – July 5, 2010 to August 8, 2010 o Physiology (28-hours) o Pathology (28-hours) o Pharmacology (28-hours) o Behavioral Science (13-hours) o Test Taking and Study Skills (3-hours) - 28-hours of live online lecture with Kaplan Medical US faculty at Poznan University of Medical Science Campus – August 10, 2010 to August 20, 2010 o Microbiology (14-hours) o Biochemistry (14-hours) Pricing and Minimum Requirements Early enrollments will be strongly encouraged by providing an additional tuition discount for course purchases prior to March 31, 2010. Kaplan will require a minimum of 75 students to run the live lecture portion of the course onsite at Gdansk Medical University. If we are unable to enroll minimum of 75 students by May 1, 2010 then it will be at Kaplan’s discretion to reassign students to a different but similar course offered at other Kaplan locations.
